Polenta cookies, umbrella burger and manty belly

Savoury Polenta with black beans in tomato sauce
Today's Food Diary
Breakfast: Rolled oats with figs, toasted coconut, sunflower seeds and linseeds
Lunch: Savoury Polenta with black beans in tomato sauce
Dinner: Leftover Savoury Polenta with black beans in tomato sauce
Baking/sweets: Polenta choco-nut cookies (experiments)

I baked cookies using polenta, coconut and chocolate chips. The cookies had great flavour but were a bit too crumbly. I need to improve the texture before posting a recipe. As always I was happy to eat them all!

Polenta is a great ingredient for cookies and it also gives a nice crunch and aroma.

The fancy umbrella got my attention. I rarely see umbrellas on food items, and definitely didn't expect to see it on a meaty burger!

A hilarious and eye opening story about 'Manty Belly' in Kyrgyzstan. Manty is a Kyrgyz dumpling. Woori Kyrgyz explains that guests are generally expected (peer pressured!) to consume large amounts of Manty, as a token of hospitality. Manty’s have very low fibre content hence the digestion process can take longer than usual, hence 'manty belly'!

Reading between the lines the hospitality aspect becomes clear. The more food and drinks the guests consume the more satisfied the hosts are.
