Unintentional fasting, walrus bars and avocado crème brulee

Carrot with balsamic vinegar
Today's Food Diary
Breakfast: Rolled oats with banana and linseeds
Lunch: Missed
Dinner: Carrot and balsamic vinegar
Baking/sweets:

In yesterdays post I talked about the dull day from the eating perspective, eating food for the purpose of fuel. And then I finished off by saying “it can only get better”.

I was wrong, or maybe not, depends on how you look at it. Today I hardly ate anything so there was little fuel. It was an unintentional fasting and this could perhaps be good. I don’t fast but as I am writing this post I don’t feel hungry. The human body is unconventional and unpredictable. We sometimes feel hungry after eating  a lot and not hungry in spite of hardly eating anything.

By the way that strange looking photo is carrots with reduced balsamic vinegar. I prefer carrots with apple cider vinegar.

Walrus Bars

An interesting recipe for ‘cream free' crème brulee. The version presented by Eats Well With Others uses coconut milk and avocado, flavoured with pistachios. Its a healthier version. Personally I am not a big fan of avocado but avocado together with coconut and pistachio sounds interesting (because the avocado taste would be muted!).

  1. Interesting. I was trying to figure out what the picture of carrots was! I bet it was tasty combination.

  2. ooo love the walrus bars photo too! I agree, sometimes our bodies are just funny if we pay attention to our hunger a little better! I find sometimes when I eat less, I am less hungry too. However, I feel like skipping a meal if you are just not hungry is a GOOD thing because you are listening to your body... if you are skipping but hungry, that is not a very good practice!

I might have to steal that cream free creme brulee idea!!!!

  3. Unintentional fasting days. Those occur more often in my life than I'd like!

  4. I know exactly what you mean about unintentional fasting... If I didn't have a hungry one around asking what was for dinner, some days I'd just skim straight on past it...

  5. I just saw Joanne's avocado creme brulee too. It looks awesome! Carrots with apple cider vinegar, eh? Do you just drizzle the vinegar straight on or do u reduce it like the balsamic?

yummychunklet: ah well, good thing is that there is always a tomorrow to catch up on missed opportunities:)
tori: the hungry one balances it!
Xialou: I just drizzle and preferably let it marinate for at least an hour. You can read more here:

  8. That creme brulee sounds incredible! Definitely a must try. I prefer my carrots with mango chutney or houmous :)
