Semolina Chocolate Yogurt Cake with Sticky Plum Glaze

Semolina Chocolate Yogurt Cake with Sticky Plum Glaze
Food Diary (September 18, 2011)
Breakfast: Rolled oats with banana, coconut, sunflower seeds and flax seeds
Lunch: Pickled herring with oat sourdough
Dinner: Potato and carrot rösti/pancake, muesli

I had very limited internet access during the weekend. Life was pretty grim. I think the list of basic necessities of life needs to be updated to include internet. Food, water and shelter are important for sure but without internet I cannot read about food! Thankfully I did not have to rely on internet to make the Semolina Chocolate Yogurt Cake with Sticky Plum Glaze.

Semolina, chocolate, plum and yogurt sounds like too many contrasting flavours and textures in a cake but it all worked. The cake was sweet and tart, moist and dry, light and slightly heavy, silky and grainy, and delicious and delicious. It was not overly sweet, the tartness from the plums provided a nice balance to the sweetness. You can quite easily finish a few slices, or even the whole cake. The recipe is available here.

Sorry there is no favourite photo and blog today. I didn’t get the chance to read any blogs unfortunately.

  1. Well, this certainly deserves all the attention today. All that ooey gooey yumminess! I've learnt that chocolate goes with most everything. And even if the other ingredients can't agree with each other ... chocolate will unite them all! World peace.

  2. The cake sounds great actually! I love plums and since prunes in chocolate work, so can this cake I imagine. Plus yogurt is much better than cream or butter :-)

  6. ping: thank you so much. Chocolate does seem to go well with (almost) everything - bacon, salt, fruits, nuts, rice...As our taste buds 'develop' I am sure we will see things like chocolate coated fried fish (ikan bils - that would be delicious actually) and others.

Martyna: thank you, it does work well. As ping said above, choc seems to work with many things
