James Summers almost found a way to get free burgers. He walked into Madison Denny's wearing a coat and tie and claiming to be a 30-year corporate veteran of the restaurant chain. He then cooked his own cheeseburger and fries. Its as simple as that, except a few hitches got in the way of a free meal.

When he arrived at the restaurant the manager thought this must be a mistake since he was not expected. The manager and James didn’t see eye to eye and the manager went to make some calls to confirm whether or not this was true. In the meantime the corporate veteran started cooking himself a cheeseburger and fries, and got himself a soda.

The cops came. James was arrested and charged with fraud, possession of an electric weapon (an unregistered stun gun), disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The article didn’t say whether he managed to eat his burger and fries. Perhaps there are easier ways of getting  free burgers and fries.

  1. Oh, yum....I'll have to check out the recipe of your favorite photo of the day. And I wonder how many years that con-man got free burgers?

    1. That would be interesting to find out, I guess it hasn't gone to trial yet

  2. Wow. After the first couple of times, I'd get bored of the free burgers.

  3. That guy had guts (or was nuts) to think he could pull that off! The things people do ... tsk.
Such an elaborate cake ... not for simple ol' me. To ogle, yes. But if some one were to make it for me ... I won't complain :)

    1. Or both, has guts and is nuts!
I wouldn't complain either if someone made it for me:) I would complain if it was too little

  4. Ha what a strange story about the burgers. Yes surely there is an easier way to get a burger! Did they find out why he did it?

    1. No the article didn't say, I guess its a better alternative to stealing burgers, as long as you get away

  5. As an economist I'd say there's no such thing as a free lunch! :p
The peanut butter cups on the cake is such a good idea - really easy way of making a cake look stunning.

  6. The soup looks fabulous! Was it made with orange lentils? They are so great in soups...
If the manager wasn't there, maybe he would have managed to make his own meal...

    1. Yes it was orange lentils, they are great.
He did start the process of making it, not sure if he managed to finish and eat it. The manager spoilt everything:)

  7. Oh I so love the colour of that soup and actually the flavours sound just my sort of thing too - love anything with lentils.

  8. That is very brazen. How unfair of the manager not to let him have his fun. Mind you, if anyone entered my business in a drug crazed state brandishing a stun gun I'd probably call the authorities too.
