Tacocopter and butter chicken

Butter chicken

Food Diary (March 24, 2012)
Breakfast: Toast
Lunch: Sandwich
Baking/sweets: Ice cream

There are so many different versions of butter chicken. I think the first butter chicken I had was made without tomatoes. I never realized butter chicken could be made with tomatoes until recently. I have even seen versions that include coconut cream.  The one I made has tomatoes but no coconut cream.

I was recently sent Arla Köket Smetana to sample. I decided to use smetana in place of yogurt to make butter chicken. Arla Köket Smetana has a fat content of 42%, much higher than yogurt. This made the sauce much richer and creamier. A pretty good outcome. We won't talk about other possible consequences of consuming products with high fat content. The recipe is available here.

The butter chicken meal followed by ice cream gave my heart and arteries a good workout.  Bit like spring cleaning, maybe, a start anyway.

Imagine this: you order tacos on your smartphone and also beam in your GPS location information, your order and your location are transmitted to an unmanned drone helicopter (grounded, near the kitchen where the tacos are made), and the tacocopter is then sent out with your food to find you and deliver your tacos to wherever you're standing.

Plans to launch Tacocopter is real, however it is being blocked by the U.S. government. Current U.S. FAA regulations prevent Unmanned Aerial Vehicles like drones for commercial purposes. There are a few other obstacles like navigating the treacherous terrain of an urban environment, keeping the food warm, finding a city map precise enough to avoid crashes 100 percent of the time, avoiding birds, balconies and telephone wires, delivering food to people indoors, delivering food to the right person, and dealing with greedy humans who would just steal the Tacocopter as soon as it got to them.

It is amazing the kind of ideas that are being thought of to make fast food even more convenient. It looks like tacocopter may not get off the ground in the foreseeable future. In the meantime taco lovers may have to consider other boring alternatives such as driving to taco places, getting it delivered by an automobile the old fashioned way, or even cooking your own!

  2. I wonder if using a tacocopter's going to cause a serious increase on their products also?
The only Smetana I know is a Czech composer ... but the butter chicken looks really good! :) and so does the quiche!

    1. It might, people might start ordering tacos just for the fun of it, even non taco eaters may order it.

  3. I think I will make Butter Chicken once more! Looking at yours I started to crave it seriously! (But I wouldn't make it with 42% cream ;-) It's funny because "smetana" means (in Czech, Polish and maybe in some other slavic languages?) simply (cow's) cream ;-)

    1. Is smetana plain cream or soured cream. I know Russian smetana is sour cream. For regular cream there is another word. I didn't have yogurt so had to use smetana. Turned out good. Thanks for the recipe.

    2. In Polish and Czech it's cream in general or... sour cream. It means both. Funny isn't it?

    3. That is funny. If you ask someone to buy smetana, there is a 50% you will receive what you expected:)

  5. This is my 3-4th time to see Butter Chicken, and I didn't know this recipe until 1 month ago! I know, I'm really behind in some cuisine and have been learning a lot through blog hopping. It looks delicious! My husband came back from India for business trip and he wants to take a break from Indian food but I want to try it very soon!
