Herring Omelet and New Hangover Cure?

Herring Omelet

Herring Omelet is a nice, easy and nutritious dish. Of all the fishes, herring has one of the highest  levels of omega 3. Omega 3 is good for your brains.

Even though herring is one of the healthier fishes, it is quite reasonably priced. Good things don't necessarily have to be the most expensive all the time. The less awareness there is of herring and its benefits, the better it is for us! The recipe is available here.

There are plenty of supposedly hangover cures. Here’s a new one, asparagus. Apparently the amino acids and minerals found in asparagus extract may alleviate hangover and protect liver cells against toxins.

Researchers at the Institute of Medical Science and Jeju National University in Korea analyzed the components of young asparagus shoots and leaves to compare their biochemical effects on human and rat liver cells. The amino acid and mineral contents were found to be much higher in the leaves than the shoots. "Cellular toxicities were significantly alleviated in response to treatment with the extracts of asparagus leaves and shoots," according to Kim, the lead researcher. "These results provide evidence of how the biological functions of asparagus can help alleviate hangover and protect liver cells."

I’ve tried different cures and the only one that works with almost immediate effect every time is more alcohol. Use alcohol to beat alcohol, thats the only way! Some people say drinking in moderation works, but thats prevention, not cure. Having lots of water during and after drinking, and some mild exercise like walking helps also. I don’t think I will be looking towards asparagus to solve headaches.

  1. I really like Swedish pickled herring so I can see it being delicious in an omelet! :)

    1. I used raw herring so it was quite different from pickled one

  2. Well, asparagus is big news indeed, but I think I have already written here that nothing works better than a glass of beer... Apparently the small amount of alcohol combined with bubbles do the trick.
This is probably the most original omelet I have ever seen. One more page on your herring cookery book :-)
