Sticky Raspberry Cake and Bacon for Birth Control

Sticky Raspberry Cake

I got inspiration for the cake from sticky date pudding and malva pudding. Sticky date pudding is made from dates, obviously, while malva pudding has apricot jam. I replaced apricot jam with raspberry jam.

As expected, the cake is sticky, moist and berry delicious. The cake on its own is not very sweet so the sauce is definitely a welcome addition. The sauce is necessary, having sticky cake without the sauce is like having a burger without the bun. However I was not generous with the amount of sauce, I wanted to have my teeth intact by the time I finished the cake. The recipe is available here.

Bacon for birth control? Possibly true. Researchers found that men who regularly ate processed meat had significantly lower amounts of normal sperm, compared with those who limited the amount of foods like bacon, sausages, hamburgers, ham and mince. On average, those who ate the equivalent of less than a rasher of bacon a day had 30 per cent more normal sperm than those who ate higher quantities of processed meats.

I don’t know why mince appears on the list since it should just be ground meat, unless mince is made differently in the US. It is conceivable. In any case, the message is as always, processed stuff is no good for you.

  1. Sticky, moist and berry delicious are all fabulous qualities in a dessert, sounds great. Hum, bacon and sperm...interesting fact I never thought I would read lol.

  2. The sticky cake looks fabulous (it sounds extremely tempting! the word "sticky" makes me hungry!). I'm surprised ground meat is among processed foods, but maybe in the US it is not "natural" ground meat, but with some chemical stuff?
