Today's Food Diary
Breakfast: Missed
Lunch: Boiled egg and wholemeal bread
Dinner:  Wholemeal bread and chickpea tomato spread
Baking: Experiments with plain cookies, chocolate cookies etc

Meals today were quite simple and basic. It was probably not very well balanced from the nutrition perspective but it kept me full and happy. However my sugar consumption today was high, probably more than the daily limit of 40 grams advised by the USDA, but much less than the US average!

Random Ramblings
The average U.S. adult consumes about 150 pounds of sugar annually, according to commodity online. That’s about 190 grams or 12 tablespoons a day. In other words a kilogram bag of sugar will not last a week! And if this is the average, I just wonder what the 'top' consumers go through.

While I do feel great that my consumption is far less than the US average, using the US average is probably not a good benchmark. However what makes me feel good is that this is the festive season and hence consumption is a bit higher than expected. So, if you are feeling a little guilty like I am, please don't. Just make sure the consumption during festive seasons becomes history.

eat tori presents a wonderful description, photos and recipe for Momofuku ko egg breafast (with ham and toast). The dish sounds very sophisticated but it is not complicated to prepare, as long as you get the timing right. Its amazing how a simple egg can be transformed into such a masterpiece.
