Dull day and manti

Today's Food Diary
Breakfast: Rolled oats with sunflower seeds and linseeds
Lunch: Pasta and mixed veges in tomato sauce
Dinner: Sweetened oats and desiccated coconut, black beans in tomato sauce
Baking/sweets:

A rather dull day from the eating perspective, relatively nutritious, relatively unhealthy because of sugar, and nothing overly exciting. It was one of those days when the purpose of food is fuel, when I eat to live.

On the other hand it is probably very promising, there is a very positive aspect to this because it can only get better. It reminds me of coming to Sweden to study in the middle of winter, and during my first few days the snow was melting and there was messy sludge all over the place. On the first evening I was invited to a welcome cocktail. The head of the university said that we all arrived at the right moment, our timing was perfect. We were confused until he said “because it can only get better”.

Its always nice to learn of new dishes, and even nicer if its unexpected or unusual. Armenian manti is meatball made with meat and bulgur, unlike mantis in other places like Central Asia and China where it is a dumpling. It seems the Armenians took the regular manti, threw away the outer dough but kept the name. In any case, irrespective of the name, both types of mantis sound delicious. And at least I know what to expect when I order manti in Armenia.

  1. I've been following you for awhile now and I notice you are so very disciplined in your breakfast menu....so healthy! I go for 3 days and poof! I'm bored. Sigh ...

  2. My day was also a "food as fuel" type of day. I was so busy working during lunch that I forgot that I had eaten leftover chicken cacciatore!

  3. I love your "it can only get better" attitude. I think as food bloggers we sometimes forget that people often just eat to fuel...and that that's okay...once in a while. :P
