Food sex and bajadera

Fish finger sandwich
Food Diary (December 01, 2011)
Breakfast: Rolled oats with banana and flax seeds
Lunch: Fish finger sandwich
Dinner: Carrot and ginger soup, bread
Baking/sweets:

The fish finger sandwich was awesome, perhaps an outlier on the effort/taste scale. I wonder who invented the process of shallow and deep frying, and what was the first fried food. Whoever invented frying certainly deserves all the medals and awards possible, including the Nobel prizes in science, peace and food.

And in case you didn't notice, December just arrived. Still no sign of snow in Stockholm, very strange weather.

The quickest way to a man's heart is through his stomach. It seems that food and heart, or more precisely sex, is on equal grounds. Researchers at Ohio State University found men thought about sex 19 times a day, and food 18 times a day.

The team asked a group of 160 women and 125 men to record their thoughts, with 163 asked to mark down how often they thought about sex, 61 about sleep and 59 about food.

Women thought about sex less than men, on average about 10 times a day.

I am trying to think of reasons why men think about food almost as much as sex. One would imagine men thinking a lot more about sex. I guess the fact that men eat three times a day, and the food varies, probably explains why men think of food a lot more than expected. If men ate only once a day, and the same food each day, they would probably think less about food. This is not the best explanation but the best I could come up with. I haven’t found a reason why women think about sex a lot less than men so.

  1. Because most women have to think of what to cook for those men. Gah! I guess I shouldn't generalize like that but that would be a correct statement to make for Asians.
That Bajathingy looks interestingly chewy. I love chewy. Gonna go check that out.

  2. Yummy fish fingers! Yeah weather here in Montreal weird too. We had one small snow storm last week but it all melted (yay).

I'll tell you why men think about sex and food so much...both body parts are neighbors ;-)

  3. Hello! I love the pictures you upload on your blog! Really top notch! I hope you don't mind me saying this, but its really hard to read what you've written coz the writings all in light grey. I have to highlight everything first & then read. Just thought you should know.

  4. I totally agree with the Nobel prize for deep-frying! (Disagree with shallow frying: from my experience since the fat amount is too low compared to the food volume and the fried food ends up soaking up more fat...).
Sex and food thoughts' frequency sounds very strange and difficult to explain...
I have just read the previous comment and disagree: I enjoy reading your grey texts :-) Please don't change! (unless you make a poll and I'm in minority of course)

  9. This post made me laugh. I glanced at the title and just saw Food Sex and all I could think was, is he talking about combining foods in some new weird way?!

I agree though, the way to my man's heart now is his stomach. Gotta love coming home to an awesome meal at night. Have a great weekend!

  10. Can't say I've ever had a fish finger sandwich, but you sure make it look tasty. I agree re whoever invented frying--my hero. And that story is too funny...but true! I've always been told that the way to a man's heart is through food, and that I'll be a good wife because I can cook. Let's hope that stands true. ;)

  11. ping: I didn’t think of it that way but it does make sense, especially in Asian cultures.
You have just created a new dessert name “Bajathingy”:)

Cheap Ethnic Eatz: hahaha, and where is the brain:)

Kavi: I definitely don’t mind you saying that, any comment and criticism is most welcome. I will check it on different computers

Sissi: I will inform the Nobel committee that they should consider:) Deep and shallow frying reminds me of a Soviet dish “fried potatoes”. Its potatoes cut into fries and shallow fried, really oily and less delicious than the deep fried version.
Thanks for your thoughts on font color.

Joanne: with your cooking skills there should be a queue of man wanting to marry you:)

Kitchen Belleicious: it’s a tried and tested formula:)

    Yummychunklet: it is

Junia: OK, time to update the phrase/formula:)

    Carol: I can understand

Mary: hahaha, weird food combinations or usages is a possibility too but I better not discuss those issues here:)

Caroline: I am sure it will stand true
