Top 5 Fat Burning Fruits and Fresh Ginger Coconut Oat Cookies

Fresh Ginger Coconut Oat (Ginger ANZAC) Cookies

I bought a ton of fresh ginger couple of days ago. Well not quite a ton but a lot anyway. It was ridiculously cheap, and now I have to find ways to use it.

Fresh ginger cake and ginger cookies immediately came to mind, the cookies won. The last ginger cookies I ate were the incredibly delicious teeth-breaker gingernut cookies. I want to keep my teeth intact so making these was out of question. Cookies which were crispy and chewy, but also buttery and syrupy is what I was after. As always my trusted ANZAC Cookie recipe came to the rescue. Add fresh ginger, make few adjustments and the recipe is ready to rock and roll. It took me a few attempts before I managed to get the recipe just right. The recipe is available here.

Festive season is here. Perhaps this list of top 5 fat burning fruits may come in handy.

Avocado
Avocado is loaded with Omega 9 fatty acids and these speed the conversion of fat into energy and boost the rate of metabolism.

Coconut
Coconut is rich with medium chain triglycerides (MCFAs) which increase the liver’s rate of metabolism by up to 30 percent. They also help keep you full so you’re less likely to snack on junk food.

Lemons
Lemons alkalize our body and are an excellent liver detoxifier. Maintaining the health of the liver is important to the body’s ability to digest and burn fat, since the liver is one of the organs responsible for these functions.

Grapefruit
Many studies confirm that grapefruit is an excellent weight loss food. In one study at Johns Hopkins University, women who eat grapefruit daily shed almost 20 pounds on average in only 13 weeks, without changing anything else in their diet or lifestyle.

Tomatoes
Packed with vitamin C and the phytochemical lycopene, tomatoes stimulate the production of the amino acid known as carnitine. Research has shown carnitine helps speed the body’s fat-burning capacity by one third.

  7. Excellent idea to use fresh ginger! and also very original (everyone uses dried ginger in pastry!). They look as beautiful as all your Anzac biscuits versions.
I prefer it with young ginger, but you might try pickling it in vinegar (I have posted a recipe in the summer). I should have pickled more jars because those I open now, after several months, got even better (I remember that the "old" ginger version was much more pungent and stronger, but maybe it softens with time...).
This is the best moment to talk about fat-burning food, so that we can prepare ourselves for Christmas rich food. I have heard about lemon and grapefruit only!
