Chocolate Coconut Oat Cookie and Baby Poo Sausage

Chocolate Coconut Oat Cookie

This is a regular chocolate chip cookie, boosted with coconut and oats. Coconut and oats bring a nice flavor and texture. Plus these are healthy ingredients, so it makes the chocolate chip cookie healthier, or less unhealthier, depending on what you prefer to believe! The recipe is available here.

Would you eat sausages made from baby poo? This article attracted my attention, even though baby boo sausage does not appeal to me. I am an adventurous eater, but not that adventurous.

Baby stool is an abundant source of probiotics that boost gut health. And smart Spanish researchers believe that if they make sausages with this good stuff, it could become a health food.

Gut bacteria is important. Changes to gut bacteria are associated with cancer, diabetes and inflammatory bowel disease. And researchers at the Buck Institute for Research on Ageing in California found that having the right balance of gut bacteria could be the secret to a long life.

Researchers took stool samples from the nappies of 43 babies aged up to six months old. They used bacteria cultured from the stools to make ‘fuet’, a type of fermented sausage similar to chorizo. Not only is the sausage healthier, but researchers say it tasted as a traditional fuet would.

How researchers come up with these things?

  2. The cookies look great (I love the slight chewiness coconut brings to biscuits and cookies), but the article.. this is the most disgusting thing I have ever read I think! Don't they have more important research to spend money on????

    2. Yes... so much more useful for the humanity than finding a cure against a disease, isn't it? I wonder who paid theM. (I won't make further research though; it'll only make me furious).
