Breakfast: Missed
Lunch: Gnocchi with tomato mustard sauce, baked gnocchi
Dinner: Pickled cucumber and onion salad, lightly spiced potato and soy bean soup
Gnocchi today wasn’t a great success. While kneading the dough I knew there was not enough flour but I was too hungry to rectify this. The cooked gnocchi did hold together, only just. It was edible, actually quite nice with the tangy tomato mustard sauce. However it would never receive the 'Italian grandmother seal of approval'.
I am glad the dough was far from perfect because I decided to bake some dough and see that happens. This is what the baked gnocchi looked like.

It was puffy, chewy and crispy, a great snack on its own or a replacement for the original gnocchi, perhaps even better than the original!
I experimented with using polenta to make cookies. The polenta cookie logs turned out crispy, slightly chewy, dense with an intense irresistible flavour. The logs are similar to a dense shortbread but the polenta added more crunch and a slightly different texture and flavour. Overall a very addictive cookie. Friendly warning - once you start you can’t stop!

pikelet & pie presents an interesting story about a roadside eatery in India . The eatery is literally in the middle of nowhere, and yummy sounding dishes are churned out using basic kitchen equipment. Some of the dishes produced in 'hole in the wall' restaurants could sit comfortably in Michelin rated restaurants.
