Baked gnocchi with tomato sauce
Today's Food Diary
Breakfast: Sourdough toast with jam
Lunch: Baked gnocchi with tomato sauce
Dinner: Gnocchi with sautéed lightly smoked sausage, onions and capsicum
Baking/sweets: Various combinations with rolled oats – quick sugar fixes!

Baked gnocchi’s came about as a result of an accident some days ago when I had to resurrect a batch of gnocchi dough which barely held together when boiled. I found a simple solution – bake rather than boil. Today was no accident, the dough was excellent but I favoured the baked version. The baked gnocchi’s are firm and slightly crispy on the outside and mushy on the inside, a little addictive I think. A bit like a chip, without the crunch and grease!

An interesting and somewhat hilarious review of a restaurant in London. There has been occasions when I visited restaurants, paid above average prices and left hungry because of ‘quality’ rather than ‘quantity’. Looking at the sheer volume of food in the first picture, one can safely say that not many customers leave this particular restaurant hungry.

Buffets are fun sometimes, where you stuff yourself to the brim and promise not to come back, and you say that every time! The restaurant being reviewed in the blog perhaps did not offer a buffet option in the traditional sense of the word, they brought the buffet to your table!

An unusual and very tasty looking dish, as long as you don't picture yourself eating the leaves.

  4. Jen: you are most welcome. I suppose if someone wants greens with their meals they can eat the pandan leaves, at their own risk:)
