Caviar and egg, McDonalds Chicken McGrill and fast food fine dining

Caviar and egg on sourdough toast

Today's Food Diary
Breakfast: Rolled oats with sultanas and linseeds
Lunch: Sautéed potatoes and eggplant
Dinner: Caviar and egg on sourdough toast
Baking/sweets: Cinnamon roll filled with pureed dried fruit

Many months ago I was invited to a breakfast seminar. Thanks to delays in public transport I missed the breakfast but got there just before the seminar started. The breakfast spread included caviar and eggs on toast. Missing the breakfast annoyed me and the picture of the dish is still stored in my mind. I often thought of what I missed. Finally today I assembled this simple meal. The picture in my mind is slightly different from what you see above. Both the eggs are similar, the bread is different.

Yesterday I blogged about baby gaga, the human milk ice cream. I cannot help but draw parallels to caviar and chicken egg. Caviar and chicken eggs go well together. Chicken and fish don’t. Same with baby gaga. Babies and human milk go well together until the babies grow up. Something to think about, especially for human ice cream manufacturers.

A caveat, McDonalds is not sponsoring this post. This is not an acknowledgment that I am a McD’s fan. And this is not an acknowledgment that I don’t like McD’s. I will keep my views close to my chest.

I have seen a few posts on McDonalds Chicken McGrill Burger. I read that in Singapore, as part of its launch, one of the outlets was transformed into a restaurant. The burger was served restaurant style, on a real plate decorated with a sprinkling of dried herbs and a drizzle of tomato sauce. I think the plating could have done without the herbs, and especially without the tomato sauce. McDonalds approach to transform its outlet, invite food bloggers and present the burger restaurant style is interesting. It invoked thoughts about the marketing strategy being employed, its effectiveness and potential future plans. I won’t bore you with my detailed thoughts, needless to say the blogs I read gave the burger a thumbs up.

  2. Caviar and eggs; a cracking combination. I swear the smoked egg with caviar, onions and potato chips at Momofuku Ko in NYC is one of the best things I've ever eaten....

  4. I have never had the McGrill -- not sure if they have it in Canada? But I will be honest, as much as I love cooking and I love fresh food, sometimes, there's nothing like a Big Mac.
