I have been tagged. Today the lovely Nami from Just One Cookbook tagged me to take part in a Seven Link Challenge.  The challenge has a very interesting concept, to highlight some of your own posts and then to nominate 5 bloggers. There are only two rules:
1) publish links for the categories below (1 link for each category).
2) nominate up to 5 bloggers to take part

Here are my links.

1. The most beautiful post: This one.
It has two foods that I love and ate for the same meal, dulce de leche chocolate slice and pork curry. The photos are not beautiful but the food certainly tasted delicious.

I posted this on December 31, 2010, the last day of 2010 and it has consistently been the most popular post. The post describes my most unforgettable memory relating to a dessert and meal I had.

3. The most controversial post: This one
The controversy was negligible or perhaps non-existent. I summarized an article that discussed a sensitive issue but fortunately there was no negative reactions.

4. The most helpful post: Many!
I don’t want to sound arrogant but almost everyday I try to present useful or helpful information.

5. The post that was surprisingly successful: This one
I hosted the presto pasta night and it was something different and fun, and my first attempt at hosting such an event.

6. The post that did not get the attention it deserved: All of them!
Just kidding. Unfortunately no particular post comes to mind

7. The post I am most proud of: No post in particular.
I try to put in effort into every post but there are occasional misses.

To select 5 bloggers I chose the first 5 persons who left comments on my blog today, and the ‘winners’ are:

Duck fat has been ‘powering’ French cuisine, used in preparing confits, cassoulets and a range of other dishes. Now duck fat is being used to power vehicle as farmers have started to produce gourmet diesel from duck fat. In the region of Dordogne, there is no shortage of duck fat since about two million ducks are raised annually for the restaurant industry.

The French are not the first though. Similar operations using duck fat have been undertaken across the world from the United States and Britain to China. U.S. poultry giant Tyson Foods recently began transforming the millions of gallons of chicken and pork fat it processes each year into biodiesel. Chicken and duck fat may not be the healthiest fat for us to consume so it is a good thing if we start to use it more to power vehicles and less to power ourselves.

I really enjoyed your answers to the questions!
Actually duck fat is healthier than many oils (for example peanut oil). It actually contains some positive elements, while most oils don't.
I have an old post about duck confit and I remember finding very interesting information about the duck fat. Also people who live in the "foie gras" region in France eat lots of duck fat and foie gras and are far from being the unhealthiest population in this vast and varied (nutrition-wise) country. There were several serious research studies made with them.

  5. "Gourmet diesel" lol! But it's a great idea of using up otherwise wasted fat. On another note, keep up the good work on your blog! I can't even catch up on my blog reading list so it's amazing you can do this everyday! :)
